Saurornitholestes langstoni

This small [6 feet in length] agile carnivore is classed as a Dromaeosaurid. The fossil remains, teeth etc. are almost a carbon copy of the Velociraptor mongoliensis. The name from the Greek is lizard-bird- robber. Though thought to range from 73 to 76 million years ago they are found to the end of the Cretaceous in Wyoming, [Lance Creek Fm.] This is another instance of a small meat eater surviving over a longer period than the larger predators.
